Olympiakos v Arsenal Betting Tips and Bet Preview

Arsenal find themselves in a familiar situation of needing to win on the final round of Champions League game by a certain amount of goals to progress. Minus key players due to injury, Arsenal must win by two clear goals or a one goal scoreline of 3-2 or better. Arsenal are favourites to win on Wednesday evening but that is a price that continues to rise.

The visitors are available at 2.10 with Bet365, but they’ll need to do something they’ve failed to do during their three previous trips here. All three meetings have resulted in a home win which is priced at 3.60 this evening. Six of the seven meetings between these two have been won by the home side. There has yet to be a draw which is available at 3.75.

Sanchez, Cazorla, Arteta, Coquelin, Welbeck, Wilshere and Rosicky make up the injury list for Arsenal. It leaves Wenger with a lack of options of the bench and real lack of creativity in the midfielder.

Coquelin has played a big role in the midfield for Arsenal this season, and that creates a problem in that Arsene Wenger only has four senior players to call upon in the middle of the park, with Reine-Adelaide and several other youngsters making up the remaining options.

Oliver Giroud looks like the likely option upfront having scored five goals in his last 11 games. He’s still far from prolific, and with the potential for Arsenal struggling to create chances this evening, I wonder if Walcott may be more useful for his pace and getting in to goalscoring positions alone.

The Asian handicap prices reflect how tough this could be for Arsenal. We’ve already mentioned that their price to win has risen as high as 2.10 now, whilst Olympiakos +0.5AH is 1.83 and dropping.

Olympiakos are just 13 games in to their season but they already find themselves 13 points clear at the top of the league. They’ve won 13 games straight in extremely comfortable fashion, and they can focus fully on this evening. They aren’t going to catch Bayern, but it’s key to remember Olympiakos themselves need a result here to qualify.

Just a draw or even a one goal loss could be enough for the home side, so I don’t expect them to be overly adventurous. They should be able to make it a cagey game in a fierce atmosphere, and I’m worried for Arsenal defending the counter attack. The Greek side have the potential to really open up the visitors on the break. At some point Arsenal will have to flood forward without caution because I don’t see them getting the goals they need.
