Aston Villa v Crystal Palace Betting Tips and Bet Preview

Crystal Palace and Aston Villa will also meet on Tuesday evening with the latter hosting. Villa are yet to reach 10 points so far this season and at present look doomed for relegation. Crystal Palace, not to be cruel, are overachieving somewhat, but they’re still one of the best away teams in the league.

Palace have picked up 20 of their 31 points away from home. They’ve beaten Chelsea, Liverpool and Southampton on their travels, going 6-2-3 overall. They seem to play with far less pressure away from home and their counter-attacking capabilities make them a real threat.

Especially to a side like Aston Villa who to put it simply cannot defend properly. In little danger for most of the match against Wycombe on the weekend, a ridiculous challenge in the box handed the League Two side a Villa Park replay.

It extended their run in all competitions to 16 games without a win, including 11 defeats. The record is bad enough but when I actually watch Aston Villa, I haven’t in my lifetime seen a worse side in the Premier League. Villa fans wont take that as an insult; they’ll probably agree. It’s a fantastic club which deserves so much more.

They have managed to avoid defeat in four of their last seven games which is a marked improvement, but they’re still considering a lot of silly goals. They also lack going forward. The fact they’ve scored just six goals in nine home games makes it incredibly easy for visiting sides to set out a typical away performance.

Sides are happy coming here and playing a patient, non-entertaining game until they get their chances and we know that those chances are easy to come by. We’ve seen teams leave with all three points here this season in games that have been like training sessions.

I think the problems run deeper than just whoever is in charge at Villa, but Garde has done nothing at all to change this side. A side that actually has a lot of talent and International experience on paper, but no one other than Ayew and Richards are performing to my knowledge.

It’s hard to see how anything will change at Villa. Domestically this is a side that has won none of their last 19 games. That equates to 5 points earned from 57. Garde is just counting down the days until like those before him he’s relived, and Villa themselves are ticking off days on the calendar until relegation.

I’d love to see such a fantastic club prove what I’ve said to be wrong, because they deserve better, but in the current circumstances I can’t see anything other than a very comfortable evening for Crystal Palace should they perform.
