Manchester City v PSG Betting Tips and Bet Preview

Manchester City did a fantastic job of limiting PSG’s chances and takes their own when they came their way. Indeed, Zlatan should have punished the visitors but wasn’t his clinical self on the evening, but the English side now have something solid to build on as they eye their first ever Champions League semi-final tie.

So a home win can secure a comfortable passage through for Manchester City and that can be backed at a price of 2.80 with Bet Victor. It’s a price that currently continues to grow with PSG receive plenty of backing in the market.

They can reach said stage with a 1-1, 0-0 or better score line on Tuesday and I think there will be an air of caution about the way they play. It was very much an on the counter job during the first leg, and although City now hold the home advantage, we saw at Stamford Bridge how dangerous PSG still are on their travels.

Still, if City can hold PSG to a low scoring draw, job done. The draw is available at 3.50 with Bet365. The same outlet offers the possibility of extra time at 11.00 if you back a 2-2 draw in this one.

PSG have actually failed to win four of their last seven at home and they’ve been conceding more goals than usual. Away from home they’ve been unstoppable, winning 11 of 12 and their last four (including that trip to Chelsea), scoring 16 goals. They’re always going to be a massive threat against a City side who can’t help but concede goals. PSG can be backed at 2.60 with Bet365 but that price will continue to shorten.

After seeing City concede yet another soft goal in falling behind to West Brom (cast your mind back to Fernandinho in the first leg) it goes without saying I’d expect PSG to at least score here. And in the circumstances, possibly twice or more.

We know that City have no shortage of attacking threat going the other way and it was some sloppy defending from Luiz and co that allowed City to clinically snatch a draw on Wednesday. You’d expect more chances to fall City’s way at home and any team with Sergio Aguero in their ranks is going to punish you.

As much as City will look to pick their moments and be sensible early on (PSG may well do the same, but probably not) this has the look of a game that will inevitably open up at some point. The confidence of the likes of Zlatan will have PSG thinking they can afford to play their own game and still have it their own way.

If either team scores then it obviously opens up and becomes a rescue mission for the other side. More so for PSG if City were to score first. Either way, I feel looking at the goals market is safer than predicting an overall outcome for this tie or a match winner on the night.

Six of City’s last seven home UCL games have seen at least three goals. Their away games have been full of excitement too. I think City’s dull 0-0 against Kyiv last time out was nothing more than a team already qualified saving themselves for another day. There will be no 0-0 here.
